Sommelier, Pianist, Creative Director

Esteban Uriona Castillo

Before he was a sommelier, Esteban was a musician. From strumming guitar chords to composing on the piano, music was his first language. But his path took a surprising turn when he began guiding wine tours and entered the vast world of wine.

Over the past decade, Esteban has worked as a sommelier at various vineyards. He also co-founded his own winery, U.P. Wines, during the pandemic—pouring his creativity into every bottle.

Host, Marketing & Operations Specialist

Marielle Velander

Marielle, a cultural anthropologist and avid traveler, has long seen wine and music as essential keys to understanding a culture. Her passion for both has taken her to over 60 countries around the world, uncovering the stories behind every melody and grape.

Marielle is also a certified travel advisor, and has a decade of experience in operations and cross-functional collaboration in tech start-ups. In her free time, she sings jazz and writes poetry.

Our worlds collided on a vineyard in Chile, and from the first sip, we knew something special was fermenting. Our first date? Naturally, a classical tango concert in Valparaíso, followed by dancing to 80s music at a bar.

Together, we traveled across continents, discovering hidden wine cellars and listening to live music in dimly lit jazz clubs, regal concert halls, and open-air plazas. We eventually made our home in Barcelona, a city nestled among world-class wine regions and where you can hear live music every night of the week. But something was missing: while wine and food pairings were everywhere, no one was talking about pairing music with wine.

And so, MELOVINUM was born.

A one-of-a-kind experience that pairs five exceptional Spanish wines with live musical performances—performed by Esteban himself, combining his two lifelong crafts. It’s about slowing down, listening closely, and tasting with intention.
